Have a cuppa on Colliers! Builders’ Merchant Collier & Catchpole teams up with Butterworth & Son to make a Builders’ Brew.
Independent Builders’ Merchant Collier & Catchpole knows a thing or two about what builders want and that includes the fact that its customers’ daily routine would not be quite the same without a cup of tea or two. So when it came to thinking of some branded gifts to thank its regular visitors to its well-stocked yards in Colchester and Ipswich, it was not so much a matter of thinking “outside the box” but more about thinking “in the bag”.
Collier & Catchpole has business roots in East Anglia, going back almost 200 years and so when identifying a partner to help them create a “Builders’ Brew”, the obvious choice was another local family business which has been around as long as Colliers. Butterworth & Son , the specialist coffee roasters and suppliers of fine teas, based in Bury St Edmunds, have family history as Tea Smiths going back to 19th century and are known for quality blended teas.
Collier & Catchpole contacted Rosie Mills-Smith, Operations Manager at Butterworth & Son who was excited about the prospect of doing a branded project: “Although this type of order is not our mainstream business, as a company we are keen and committed to work with other local organisations that employ local people with a proven track record of high standards.”
Rosie recommended the “Suffolk Special Blend” as the ideal base for the “Builders Brew” as it has a strong and full flavour and is blended for hard water, common in the east of England because of the geology of the landscape.
Andy McMahon, Collier & Catchpole’s Commercial Manager is delighted with the end result: “Everyone loves the tea – so much so that we are in danger of running out of mugs! With so many of our customers on site rather than behind a desk, it is great to be able to give them something they can enjoy wherever they are.”
